CFE has been commissioned by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) to develop case studies to demonstrate the impact of a range of projects within the Find Your Talent Pathfinders and the Strategic Commissioning Programme.
Find Your Talent Pathfinders
The Find Your Talent Pathfinders are intended to help ensure children and young people stay on the path to success by participating in positive activities and experiences which develop their talents. This comprises an entitlement to five hours per week of high-quality cultural experiences. There are ten pathfinder areas where local authorities and cultural and other partners are trialling different ways of delivering a comprehensive cultural offer.
CFE is producing ten case studies that will advocate the potential of museums, libraries and archives to support the cultural offer by providing examples of good practice for sector and education staff.
The Strategic Commissioning Programme
The Strategic Commissioning Programme 2009-11, funded by DCMS and DCSF provides opportunities for the MLA to: deliver maximum impact for the public to help inspire learning; to build capacity within museums and archives to develop and deliver learning activities; build sustainable partnerships with schools, initial teacher education providers and local authorities; and position the sector within local and regional education and learning infrastructures.
The workforce skills development strand of the Strategic Commissioning Programme includes the Learning Links placement programme and Teaching Outside the Classroom. Together these two programmes provide opportunities for museums, libraries and archives staff, teachers, educators, and trainee teachers to develop their skills and promote partnerships in a diverse range of educational settings such as museums and galleries.
CFE is producing five case studies for the Learning Links programme and five case studies for the Teaching Outside the Classroom programme. These case studies will advocate the role and further potential of the sector to support the Integrated Childrens’ Workforce and provide examples of good practice for sector and education staff.
CFE is undertaking desk research and depth interviews with project leads in order to establish: how well individual projects worked; what was required from partners to establish the project; what challenges were faced; and where different or innovative approaches were taken.
