CFE is undertaking qualitative and quantitative research on behalf of Norfolk Investing in Communities to: identify current and future training and recruitment needs within Great Yarmouth; engage employers in the area; and inform the design of a training programme for local residents. The project aims to tackle worklessness within the area and ensure local residents benefit from local economic development. This project will produce a picture of employers' requirements and engage their support for the new training programme, to ensure that it meets business needs and provides successful pathways into employment for local residents. A telephone survey of employers has been conducted. Focus groups and a workshop are underway with employers. Norfolk Investing in Communities (IiC) is a regeneration programme, managed by the County Strategic Partnership and including County and district Councils, JobCentre Plus, Learning and Skills Council and voluntary sector members. IiC is aimed at helping people across the East of England overcome barriers to work, enabling them to be part of the region's growing economy.
