CFE was commissioned to perform a summative evaluation of Norfolk Guidance Service’s Healthy Futures Project.
The Healthy Futures project is designed to provide additional support for hard to reach clients in the Mile Cross and Mancroft wards of Norwich. Both Mile Cross and Mancroft contain areas that are within the top 20% most deprived wards in the country and demonstrate high proportions of unemployment. It aims to reduce the number of economically inactive adults in the ward of Mile Cross and Mancroft; provide on-going mentoring and support; and engage with employers in Norwich, Mancroft and other wards.
To achieve these objectives the Healthy Futures project engages with clients across the community in community based locations. Advisers provide mentoring and guidance support to these individuals in order to encourage entrance into learning or work and the improvement of confidence. Additionally the project works with employers to identify local employment opportunities and reduce potential employer prejudice when recruiting from these localities.
CFE examined management information and conducted interviews with project partners, advisors and end beneficiaries. The evaluation delivered a summary report assessing the project’s achievements. The report was used to facilitate discussion with stakeholders to explore lessons learnt in the project.
