CFE were commissioned to assess the leadership and management needs of the chief executives and senior management team of charities supported by The Private Equity Foundation (PEF).
The Private Equity Foundation (PEF) has been created by leading European private equity firms as a charitable vehicle for the European private equity industry. PEF is seeking to "apply private equity to charity", where the investment by PEF will create significant value. PEF take a rigorous approach to charity selection, applying private equity skills to identify, evaluate, select and monitor charities.
The project included:

Identifying leadership needs through indepth qualitative interviews with chief executives and in some cases their senior management team

Validation and refining of interview findings through a workshop made up of Trustees, PEF clients and other stakeholders

Publishing the outcomes of the workshop to the wider voluntary sector community, business schools and other key stakeholders

Inviting submissions from business schools to support the leadership and management needs identified

Evaluating and appointing, using a commissioning group drawn from the Trustees, PEF client companies and an independent expert to appoint a preferred provider(s).
