CFE responds to Skills for Growth
12 November 2009
CFE welcomes much in the Government’s latest national skills strategy Skills for Growth that was published yesterday. In particular, CFE is encouraged by plans to fund 35,000 new advanced and higher level apprenticeships for 19 to 30 year olds and to ensure these qualifications get UCAS points to improve the current (very low) rate of progression into higher education.

When CFE began their work in this area, 2007, it was clear that the demand for higher level skill from businesses was very much a ‘known unknown’. At that time, public policy was primarily focused on the need to reform the supply of higher level skills.
