CFE was commissioned to undertake a study to map volunteering in the Cultural Sector in the East Midlands.
The research mapped the numbers of organisations benefiting from volunteering and the number of people engaged in volunteering in the arts, museums, libraries, archives and the wider heritage sectors in the East Midlands. The research also explored the value of volunteering to individuals and communities including links to community empowerment and demonstrate through case studies the benefits of volunteering in the cultural sector.
The project involve an online survey of cultural organisations in the region to map volunteering, a depth review of available literature and the production of case studies following qualitative interviews with volunteers.
