This conference took place during Apprenticeship Week and considered the strategies for providers and businesses to align their offers with skills frameworks. The event heard keynotes from Kevin Brennan MP (Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Apprenticeships); Simon Waugh (Chief Executive, National Apprenticeship Service); and Rod Kenyon OBE, (Director Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network).
CFE hosted an afternoon seminar session Understanding the employer market and stimulating demand for Apprenticeships in which Sarah Hakeney, Joint Managing Director at CFE presented our work in the area and facilitated debate.
The afternoon session was well attended by providers, employers and awarding bodies. It stimulated an interesting debate around increasing awareness of Apprenticeships amongst employers, how suitable Apprenticeship frameworks are, and the effect of the recent Apprenticeship Standards for England (SASE). The seminar also discussed the prevalence of Apprenticeship-like training and the implications of formalising it.
