CFE was commissioned by the London Library Change Programme Board to explore the potential for pan London shared library services. CFE’s work explored the library workforce's development including a review of staff deployment, skill sets and capabilities.
The project involved:
- mapping the structure and deployment of the library workforce and associated staffing and training costs;
- developing options for sharing management, specialist expertise, operations and back office functions across London Boroughs; and
- considering how libraries need to respond on a pan London basis to a rapidly changing technological, social and economic environment, with consequent requirements for different skill sets and capabilities.
